Trail Planning FAQ / Rules & access
Rules & access
Do I need a permit, and where can I camp?
Public trail access, state park vehicle permits and campsite permissions are different things. I verify the rules for each exact place.
Trail access
Follow the current operator guidance for access, permitted activities and any special closures. Do not assume all facilities along the three trails share the same rules.
Camping
A public trail, roadside turnout or rest area is not automatically an authorized camping spot. Use designated or explicitly permitted sites and check fees or reservations as applicable.
Respect your neighbors
Stay on the route, respect private property, and follow posted local restrictions.
Build your own plan
Use the interactive planner to choose start and end towns and review services along the way. Confirm current trail conditions, seasonal facilities, lodging and shuttle arrangements before departing.
